Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has introduced the 2025 Scrambler Icon Dark in India, positioning it as the most affordable Ducati offering in the country. Priced at ₹9.97 lakh (ex-showroom), this latest entrant is designed to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a premium yet cost-effective gateway into the Ducati brand.
Aesthetic and Design Enhancements
The 2025 Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark sports a distinctive, blacked-out theme that sets it apart from its counterparts in the Scrambler lineup. Featuring a matte black fuel tank, smoked headlamp, and darkened body panels, the bike exudes a rugged and minimalist appeal. The signature X-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on the front further enhance its visual character.
Ducati has retained the iconic Scrambler design while refining certain elements for a more modern appeal. The flat seat, wide handlebars, and a minimalistic rear section ensure that the motorcycle stays true to its scrambler roots. Additionally, the new 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster adds a contemporary touch, integrating smartphone connectivity for navigation and media controls.
Performance and Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the 2025 Scrambler Icon Dark is powered by the same tried-and-tested 803 cc, air-cooled, L-twin Desmodromic engine that propels the standard Scrambler Icon. This powertrain delivers 73 horsepower and 65.2 Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Ducati has also equipped the bike with a quick-shifter, allowing for seamless gear changes and improved riding dynamics.
To enhance safety and riding comfort, the bike is equipped with cornering ABS and traction control. Riders can also switch between two riding modes – Road and Sport – depending on their preference and road conditions. The combination of a tubular steel trellis frame and Kayaba suspension ensures a balanced ride, whether navigating city streets or cruising on highways.
Market Positioning and Competition
Ducati's decision to introduce the Scrambler Icon Dark at a more competitive price point underscores its strategy to expand its footprint in the Indian market. The Scrambler series has been a crucial component of Ducati’s global success, and with this new launch, the brand aims to attract a broader audience, including first-time premium motorcycle buyers.
In India, the Scrambler Icon Dark competes with other middleweight motorcycles such as the Triumph Scrambler 900 and the BMW R nineT Pure. However, Ducati's heritage, performance capabilities, and cutting-edge technology give it an edge among enthusiasts seeking a premium riding experience.
Speaking on the launch, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, stated, “The Scrambler Icon Dark is a testament to our commitment to making Ducati motorcycles more accessible while maintaining our signature blend of style, performance, and technology. We believe this model will appeal to young riders and urban enthusiasts looking for an entry into the Ducati world.”
Ducati’s Market Performance and Future Plans
Ducati India has been steadily expanding its presence in the premium motorcycle segment, with a growing network of dealerships and a diversified portfolio catering to different riding styles. The company has reported an increase in sales over the past few years, driven by strong demand for adventure tourers and scramblers.
Industry experts suggest that Ducati’s focus on the sub-₹10 lakh segment could help it gain a stronger foothold in India’s premium motorcycle market, currently dominated by brands like Triumph and BMW. With plans to introduce more accessible models in the coming years, Ducati appears poised for sustained growth.
Availability and Booking Details
Bookings for the 2025 Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark have officially commenced across Ducati’s dealerships in India. Customers can visit authorized Ducati showrooms to experience the model firsthand and place their orders. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
With this launch, Ducati has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market, catering to riders who desire a balance between performance, style, and affordability. As the most budget-friendly Ducati currently available, the Scrambler Icon Dark is poised to become a popular choice among Indian riders looking for an entry into the world of premium motorcycles.
