The electric vehicle (EV) segment in India witnessed a significant milestone in February 2025, as the MG Windsor EV secured the top position in monthly sales. According to industry reports, MG Motor sold over 7,500 units of the Windsor EV in February alone, surpassing competitors like Tata Nexon EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. The strong demand highlights the growing acceptance of premium electric mobility solutions in India.
MG Windsor EV Leads the Pack in the EV Race
With the Indian government pushing for EV adoption and consumers looking for sustainable mobility options, MG’s 7,500-unit sales figure in February marks a new benchmark for the industry. The Windsor EV now commands a 22% market share in the premium electric SUV segment, making it one of the best-selling EVs in India.
What’s Driving the Windsor EV’s Success?
1. Extended Range and Fast-Charging Technology
The MG Windsor EV boasts an ARAI-certified range of 500 km on a single charge, addressing range anxiety concerns for Indian consumers. With fast-charging support, the battery can be charged up to 80% in just 40 minutes, making it ideal for long-distance travel.
2. Luxury and Advanced Features
MG has positioned the Windsor EV as a premium electric SUV, offering a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, AI-based voice commands, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for a safer driving experience.
3. Expanding Charging Infrastructure
The expansion of MG’s fast-charging network across metro cities and Tier-2 locations has played a crucial role in boosting consumer confidence. MG currently has over 1,000 fast-charging stations across India, with plans to increase this number to 1,500 by mid-2025.
4. Competitive Pricing & Government Incentives
Despite its premium positioning, the MG Windsor EV is priced competitively at ₹22.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an attractive option for buyers. Additional government subsidies and tax benefits under the FAME II policy further reduce the effective cost for consumers.
Industry Outlook: Will MG Maintain Its Lead?
With the growing demand for EVs, MG Motors is now looking to ramp up production capacity to 10,000 units per month to meet the rising orders. The brand is also planning to introduce a new variant with AWD (All-Wheel Drive) capability later this year.
As India moves towards an electric future, MG Windsor EV’s record-breaking sales in February 2025 signal a major shift in consumer preferences. The big question remains—can MG sustain this momentum and lead the EV revolution in the coming months? The industry is watching closely.
